ESTÁ DESNUDO Y TIENE EL CUERPO
PINTADO ...
HE IS NAKED AND HIS BODY IS
COVERED WITH PAINT ...
Carlos Barbarito trans. Stefan Beyst
Está desnudo y tiene el cuerpo pintado.
Debe atravesar una muchedumbre
que ríe, gesticula y repite en trance su nombre,
Anda mientras los sacerdotes le clavan agujas
en la carne. Debes
olvidar que eres un hombre, así
no sentirás dolor alguno.
Te convertirás en otra cosa,
en un dios. Pero
él no logra olvidar lo que es,
lo intenta pero no puede.
A cada pinchazo siente aún más dolor.
Camino del altar que le han levantado,
sufre.
He is naked and his body is covered with paint.
He must pass through a crowd
that laughs, gesticulates and repeats his name in a trance.
He walks while the priests drive needles
into his flesh. You
must forget that you are a man, so
that you will not feel any pain.
You will be transformed into something else
into a god. But
he cannot forget what he is,
he tries to, but cannot.
With each prick he feels even more pain.
All the way to the altar they have erected to him
he suffers.
