EL TRAIDOR THE TRAITOR
Armando Rodriguez Ballesteros trans. Anabel Torres
One of these days as luck would have it
The traitor comes to your house
And when you open the door you find,
.......Damp from rain
His face worn by the elements.
You sit the traitor at your table
Lend him your coat and tell him what has happened
.................all this time
You fail to notice the mistrust
With which he tastes the bread you offer him
On his neck you ignore the mark left by the rope
..........With which he strangles his everyday guilt
You have no idea that behind his mask
Hiding an ambiguous cross-eyed look
he zealously refrains the ethics of a hyena
The traitor spies at your door while you are sleeping
Ransacks your drawers...........stares behind your paintings
while plotting the scheme he will use to sell you out
He cannot stop himself.......toy of abomination
The only thing he holds for sure is his death salary
Tomorrow once more it will be too late for him.
