WEDI'R ACHOSAFTER THE COURT CASE

Tra oeddit ti'n gaeth,
fferrodd glannau'r Teifi
mewn anufudd-dod sifil;
a bu farw eogiaid
o dorcalon!

Tra oeddit ti'n gaeth,
ymfudodd holl adar y cread
o ddiffyg croeso;
a chafodd cathod strae'r plwy
bwl o argyfwng gwacter ystyr!

A thra oeddit ti'n gaeth,
picedodd yr eira'r ffordd
rhag i'r haul gipio'r hawl
ar arian gleision y pridd;
ac aeth y glaw i bwdu
am na chafodd dy sylw!

Tra oeddit ti'n gaeth,
sgaldanwyd deucant o waeau
i biser o gân;
gorweithiodd y postmyn
yng nghylch Abertawe;
aeth Basildon Bond yn brin
yn y siopau!

A thra oeddit ti yn gaeth,
aeth deuddeg o reithwyr
i'w cartrefi'n rhydd.
(Blaen-plwyf, 1978)

While you were in prison
the banks of the Teifi froze
in civil disobedience,
and the salmon died
of broken hearts!

While you were in prison
all the birds of creation
migrated from lack of welcome,
and the stray cats of the parish
had an attack of existential insecurity.

And while you were in prison
the snow held pickets
in fear that the sun would
steal the rights of the earth's mint,
and the rain sulked
for lack of attention.

While you were in prison
two hundred sorrows were scalded
in a pitcher of song,
the postman claimed overtime
in the Swansea area,
and Basildon Bond became scarce
in all shops.

And while you were in prison
twelve jurors
went home to an open fire.
