SIEPE, CHE GLI ORTI VAGHI ... HEDGE, THAT DIVIDES ...
Torquato Tasso trans. A.S.Kline
Siepe, che gli orti vaghi
e me da me dividi,
sė bella rosa in te giammai non vidi
com'è la donna mia
bella, amorosa e pia;
e mentr'io stendo sovra te la mano
la mi stringe pian piano.
Hedge, that divides the lovely
Garden, and myself from me,
Never in you so fair a rose I see
As she who is my lady,
Loving, sweet and holy:
Who as I stretch my hand to you
Presses it, so softly, too.
