DIE FÜNFTE, SOGENNANTE
.........................FEUCHTE SYMPHONIE
THE SATURATED SYMPHONY
Manfred Kyber tr. Nigel Cooper

Die Rosen ruhen im Wasser.
Quabblig wird mein Sinn.
Mein Bräutigam, mein nasser,
Quakt vor sich hin.

Nun plätschert er, nun kreucht er,
Nun hupft er auf den Sand.
Mein Bräutigam, mein feuchter,
Winkt mit grüner Hand.

Nun wird er kühn und kühner.
Dahin ist meine Ruh.
Mein Bräutigam, mein grüner,
Krabbelt auf mich zu.

Die Rosen schwanken im Wasser.
Die Augen quellen so gross.
Mein Bräutigam, mein nasser,
Quakt in meinem Schoss!

On lily pads you can behold
My bridegroom sitting wet and bold.
My knees go weak, my heart grows fond,
When I hear croaking from the pond.

O splashing, creeping bridegroom mine!
Was e’er a frog so damp and fine?
I see him hopping on the sand
And waving with his big green hand.

With boldness infinite, unbound
He crawls until his love is found.
My bridegroom is so moist and green,
A finer frog was never seen.

The lilies sway from side to side,
His eyes bulge when they’re open wide.
My bridegroom now with all his charms
Is croaking loudly in my arms!
