JE VOUS ENVOIE UN BOUQUET...THESE NEWLY-OPENED FLOWERS...
Pierre de Ronsardtrans. Reine Errington
Je vous envoie un bouquet que ma main These newly opened flowers I send to you,
Vient de trier de ces fleurs épanouies: A posy that I gathered, freshly made,
Qui ne les eut à ces vêpres cueillies, If left unplucked, by evening they would fade
Tombées à terre elles fussent demain. And on the ground their petals they would strew.
Cela vous soit un exemple certainThis is a sign that though your beauty's new
Que vos beautés, bien quelles soient fleuries,And blooming, the time cannot be delayed
En peu de temps, seront toutes flétries, When all your charms must go into the shade
Et, comme fleurs, périront tout soudain. And then will perish, as these flowers do.
Le temps s'en va, le temps s'en va, ma Dame,How time does pass, Madame, how time does pass
Las! le temps non, mais nous nous en allons,It isn't time, it's we who go, alas,
Et tôt serons étendus sous la lame:Who soon will lie stretched underneath the clay.
Et des amours desquelles nous parlons,When once we're dead we can no longer share
Quand serons morts, n'en sera plus nouvelle:The love of which I speak to you today,
Donc, aimez-moy, cependant qu'êtes belle. Then love me, love me, while you still are fair.
