....Alavi, alavie, jalous,
........Lassaz nos, lassaz nos,

Now good weather's coming in,....Oho!
so we'll make the joy begin,...........Oho!
and annoy the sullen lot,...............Oho!
....see, the queen would like to show
....that with joy - she's aglow.
- Go away, go away, sullen lot,
....Let us now, let us now,
Let us dance around, dance around.

She has sent for you and me:.........Oho!
there won't be this side the sea.......Oho!
any single girl or boy........................Oho!
....who won't come to dance with us
....in the joyous dance, with us.
- Go away, go away, sullen lot,
....let us now, let us now,
let us dance around, dance around.

And the king from far away............Oho!
comes to spoil the dance today........Oho!
for he really is afraid..........................Oho!
....that they want to steal away
....April's queen this very day.
- Go away, go away, sullen lot,
....let us now, let us now,
let us dance around, dance around.

All his orders, she's refused;..........Oho!
all the old men are excused:...........Oho!
as for young men, they are not,......Oho!
....if they know how to amuse
....ladies, and get them enthused.
- Go away, go away, sullen lot,
....let us now, let us now,
let us dance around, dance around.

Anyone who sees her dance,...........Oho!
set her sprightly form to prance,......Oho!
may say truly that there's not............Oho!
....one on earth or all of France
....like the joyous queen of dance.
- Go away, go away, sullen lot,
....let us now, let us now,
let us dance around, dance around.

The dialect of Poitou, transitional between, French and Provençal, was originally more widespread
and more southern in nature, but over the centuries became more northern, under pressure
from Norman, the dialect of Tours, and the official language.
