Guillermo Pilía was born in 1958 in La Plata, Argentina, a city with a rich cultural life, where he still lives. He is an arts graduate of La Plata university. Seven volumes of his verse have been published since 1979, and he has been awarded many national and international poetry prizes. His stories and essays have also won acclaim in Argentina, Spain and the USA.

Awards for his poetry include, apart from many in his own country, second prize in the City of Almendralejo international competition in Badajoz, Spain and first prize from the International Association "La Porte des Počtes" in Paris.

"For several years he progressed as one of the best voices of the '80s generation", wrote Antonio Aliberti. "Today is a powerful confirmation of his well-deserved distinction by the austerity of his voice and, at the same time, a certain reserve with which he displays inner suffering ...".

Guillermo Pilía has been included in several anthologies of Argentine poetry.
